Bhaktapur, the city of devotees, is a cultural capital of Nepal and one of the three main cities in Kathmandu Valley. The Siddha Pokhari Pond located at the entrance of the city at Dudhpati was built in 15th century during the reign of King Yaksha Malla. It measured 275 by 92 meter in size. This oldest pond of the city that related with many interesting mythical legends, was now a focal point during Dashain festival in the month of October.

Bhaktapur city originally known as Khopring Drang which means village and settlement with market area during 3rd to 9th century, is now commonly addressed as Khwopa in Newari language. It lies at 1400 meters above sea level 13km away east of Kathmandu, and was the national capital of the country during great Malla Kindgom in early 8th century till 15th century.

The city does not have much changes since it was formed. Today, people still can have a glimpse of what life was like centuries ago.
