The Extremely Devout Pilgrims - Bodhgaya

It was a shocking yet touching sight behind Mahabodhi Temple. Groups of Lama and their devotees, day and night, seated on the floor, either meditation, studying Dharma Texts, reciting suttas, making offerings, circulating the temple or paying homage in their Tibetan way, with forehead, arms and knees dropping flat onto the ground.

Lamas are following the foot prints of Buddha, sit or meditate at places where The lord had done before. The sacred site of Bodhgaya had become their home physically and spiritually.

The devout pilgrims includes Buddhist monks and Hindu priests sat around the remains of ancient monasteries and stupas, either reading texts, reciting verses or meditating, work hard day and night, to follow the steps of Lord Buddha, The Awaken One.

The place where numbers of Lamas sit was the spot where Lord Buddha spent his 7th week meditating under a Rajbejatan Tree after enlightenment, and converted two merchants Tapussa and Bhallika who came in and offered him rice cake and honey after his meditation.

The young and the old are working hard for one same destination, free from the suffering cycle of birth and death.

Group Sutta recitation.

Spaces are fully utilized and occupied by these extremely devout pilgrims, bowing to pay full homage to the holy sites where Lord Buddha attained supreme and perfect insight.

Mahayanist believes that paying full homage or bowing to Buddha Images with forehead elbows and knees touching the ground is the only way to repent and reduce bad karma.

Salute to their faith and marvel at their practice.

Lama and layman under this particular situation, are sharing the same faith and working hard towards the same target.

Hundreds of Tibetan young monks.

It must be the Bodhi seed that had been long planted in their past life that provided these young kids the journey to the most sacred site on earth at such a young age!
