Strolling under a shade of brilliant foliage, we continued our last section of climbing to the top of the hill to pay our homage to Medicine Buddha, the main divinity enshrined in Jingoji Temple.
A scenic stair way leading to the temple premises.
The large entrance gate is finally at our sight!
The 9th century Roumon Entrance Gate of Jingoji Temple was restored in year 1623 together with some other buildings at its precinct.
Jingoji Temple is an important Buddhist Temple belonging to Japanese Shingon Sec Buddhism.
A peep through its gate to the inner sight.
The group of elegant buildings standing next to the entrance gate was stated as Shuyuan (书院). If I was not translating wrongly, it should be the Study Halls of Jingoji Temples.
Shuyuan's entrance is just beside the main gate.
The cozy garden with cobbled path set inside Shuyuan was rather impressive but it was not allowed to enter.
The perfect match of gloomy roofs and walls with glorious maples red !
Temple of Jingo-ji from Heian Period normally were Buddhist Temples associated with Shinto Shrines. The Shinto Shrine here stands just next to Shuyuan buildings and entrance gate.
When stepping into its vast precinct, we were immediately cheered up by a forest of flame.
The beautiful and spacious Jingo-ji complex standing on Mt Takao, north west of Kyoto was established in year 824 when its founder Wake No Kiyomaro (733-799) merged his two temples (Jingan-ji and Takaosan-ji) he founded earlier into one.
The awesome maple leaves at temple grounds!
The site is thickly forested with temperate and sub-tropical trees.
The stunning fall foliage at site
Most of the Temple's structures were restored in 17th century after abandoned for more than a century.
The white plastered structure looks outstanding amidst in the colorful surrounding but I did not know the name of it.
The two tiers Tahoto Pagoda was restored in year 1934.
The unique structure looks so beautiful with a back drop of nature but I have no trace of information about it.
The little compound that was winded up by roofed wooden fencing with an entrance door look like a mausoleum.
Extensive area of land contains numerous halls and shrines constructed with simplicity.
Proceed on to the main shrine further up....
