Colorful Mountain Trek at Sabaeksan, South Korea

Sobaeksan is one of the mountains at Sobaek Mountain Ranges South East of South Korea, lying between Danyang County in the Province of Chungcheongbuk-Do and the city of Yeongju in Gyeongsanbuk-Do, cutting across Southern Peninsula . Most of the peaks of Sabaek Ranges rae over 1000 meter above sea-level. Sobaeksan has an elevation of 1439 meters.

Autumn foliage at Sabaeksan.

Maple trees like flame of the forest, warmed up and colored up almost half area of the mountain.

The trail is wide and flat for the first two hours trekking.

The trek is tougher and steeper reaching this rocky and narrow path.

It is an interesting and varied terrain for walkers and climbers, with rather flat and wide trail along the mountain stream.

The stuff at Park headquarter and information center at mid-way rest-stop was so kind and friendly. She presented us a shawl marking the occasion of climbing the mountain as our souvenir. The drinking water supply round tank with cups was placed at one corner . There are signboards indicating flora and fauna at the area along the trek.

Wide and flat walking trek at the first half of trekking.

Koreans are tough and great hikers, men or women, young or old. They only took 20 minutes to complete a distance which we required to use up one hour or more.

There are Chestnut trees at the mountain. We came to know that nutritious chestnut are having an unpleasant look before burst off. Its shelves are hard and full of harmful thorn.

After passing over the suspension bridge, we came to the mid way of height about 1035 meters .

Aware of bears!

Darian Falls consist of 3 tiers each has an attractive basin.

Scenic view of Darian falls from the the top green suspension bridge that linked the outer with inner area of the valley.

It was believed by locals that the basins were the footprints left by a dragon when it ascended the mountain into the air. There would be more water in summer.

Sabaeksan National Park at the foot of the mountain. Area covered with rich forest, wild flowers, Yew trees and stream.

Path way into Darian Falls and its downstream.
