Terraced field is a form of cultivation in the mountainous topographies of many ethnic groups in the world. It is an achievement in terms of culture and folk knowledge, it helps to maintain food stability in mountainous areas.
Terraced fields are product of H'Mong and Dao minority group with abundant folk knowledge and their own cultivation skill.
In Sapa, terraced fields are farming technique of H'Mong, Dao and Giay minority groups, for slopping topography. They combine between cultivation of wet rice in narrow valleys of Giay people with high mountains cultivation of H'mong and Dao people.
Sapa's Terrace Fields has been recently recognized by Leisure Magazine of USA as one of the seven most magnificent fields in Asia and in the world. It is not surprising at all. Honestly, you have to see them with your own eyes to believe it.
