A Tinted Hilly Garden - Tenryu-in, Arashiyama

Though Tenryu-in ranked first among the five most great Zen temples in Japan and it is part of the historical monuments of ancient Kyoto, many comers are more interested in its gardens than buildings. The massive garden grounds that are brightened up with brilliant foliage, attracts hoards of visitors every fall season.

A view of temple ground from the small hill west of it.

The magnificent green bamboo grove embellished with burning red maple leaves can be viewed from the north end of Tenryu-in.

The uphill path was crowded with foliage admirers who came here to enjoy a moment of red.

A colorful world!

Ogura mountain plays an important role to this wonderful sight!

It is a true hot spot for foliage and one week later, the whole ground would turn red!

Trees when began to turn color are equivalently attractive.

A mass of colors and textures embedded in the hilly landscape unfolded as if a painting. Awesome!

The flaming maple leaves

In the colorful world, the little patch of greenish moss ground at the slope, looks outstanding .

Restaurant that popular in offering Temple set meals was fully reserved months ago. We were too late to make booking.
