Hill Top Tea Houses - Jingo-ji, Takao

Begin my homage to Jingo-ji Temple site from the hundreds steep stone steps.

The paper road lamp wrappers painted with children's drawing are so lovely.

This tree of maple leaves offers such an unique color, extraordinary and attractive.

This is the first tea house we encountered while ascending up the hills.

The cabin like structure is a teahouse. It looks like as if hanging at the cliff. A statue of Buddha Image was placed along the walking path blessing the pass-by people a safe and fruitful journey!

Almost all roofs over the buildings were covered with green moss converting the structure into part of the nature.

The display of sample dishes along the walkway looks really appetizing.

Was this large building at the foot of Takao mountain a guest house or a living quarter, I wonder.

The awesome foliage screen changes as we moved higher and higher towards the hill top.

It is worth for every step, though uphill climbing was rather exhausted!

We finally arrived the Ink-slab Cafe House 砚石亭 which is the most beautiful and popular resting place for most hikers to have their break after hours of treading exercise.

Ink-slab Cafe House offers a comfortable and cozy place for its guests to relax and have a simple meal like noodles or snack with tea at quite a reasonable price.

Samples with prices displayed outside the premise, are the best menu for foreigners like us. If you read Japanese, there is a written menu by the side.

Having a cup of macha tea perhaps with some hand-made biscuits or a bowl of hot noodles half way at hilltop, after an hour of tiring long approach, is indeed a luxurious comfort.

The impressive surroundings of Ink-slab cafe!

The tea houses were set amidst the thickly forested valley, cozy, comfortable and beautiful. I was reluctant to let the time moving forwards.......

Guests were warmly greeted by a ground of red carpet formed by the nature.

The noodles might be not as delicious as other shops in Kyoto, but the setting environment is beyond any competition from any places in the world.

The building structure of the Ink-slab cafe is entirely flushed with burning red at this gorgeous season of fall.
