Bindhyabasini Hindu Temple - Pohkara

Bindhyabasini Temple is the largest and most holy Hindu Temple site in Pokhara. The complex has different halls enshrined with Hindu Gods like Shiva, Krishna and Ganesha. The 350 years old religion site was built near a business area where Newers of Bhaktapur settled down in mid 18th century, after being invited by King to migrate to Pokhara. The wooden structure, the brass bells and shrine images are of great interest to many visitors. The relic from medieval era has great significance in Hinduism.

The sacred Temple complex sits on a small hill, offering splendid view of neighboring mountains and valley.

Whether or not you are a Hindu, it is a great attraction in Pokhara. This was the place that King Kashi of 17th century (One of the 24 Nepal Kingdoms) had foreseen to be an important commercial center of Pokhara.

The 17th century Bindhyabasini Temple dedicated to Hindu Goddess Vindhya Vasina, is surrounded by hills overlooking the entire valley of Pokhara.

Views of Annapurna mountain ranges can be clearly captured from the site

Bindhyabasini Hindu Temple is the most sacred religion site in Pokhara City. We were so fortunate to have given a chance to witness a Hindu tradition wedding held in its little chamber house.

The bride is pretty but rather young. Nepalese usually marry at young age.
