Devi's Fall - Pohkara

Patale Chhango is the site where a tributary of Seti River flowing out from Phewa Lake varnished into the earth. It is commonly known as Devi's Fall and the name was derived from a tragical legend saying that a foreign trekker (some said its a Swiss lady) named David while swimming in Pardi Khola River, the floodgates of the dam were accidentally opened and he was swept away by the flooding water into an underground passage beneath the fall, never to be seen again. The correct tales had been lost and nobody knows exactly which version of the story is true but the legend does add a touch of mystery to the sight.

The cow, elephant and serpent are the three animal deities out of five in Hinduism. They were vividly carved out from stone and displayed by the side of Devi's Fall.

It was said that obtain a dot of red dye and put onto the forehead, one would be blessed with luck from these stone carved animal deities.

Seti Gorge is one of the several gorges and canyons in the city created by the tributaries of Seti Gandaki River.

The rivers in Pokhara are classified into two types. Water with green color is called Green River and water in color like Seti River is known as White River. Seti Gandaki is the famous white river that flows through Pokhara City.

The Seti Gorge runs through the city from North to south then from west to east. Gorges at certain places are only few meter in width but the depth is more than 20 meters.
